Behind the Scenes
Use of Music
Before generating any music, we had to look into the conventions of the Thriller genre. We researched into how music changes throughout the trailer to increase and decrease tension and created a graphs to represent these changes. Once we had created our trailer, we created another graph to see how closely our trailer related to other films and whether we conformed or subverted from the codes and conventions from typical thriller/drama films.When initially brainstorm music ideas, we decided to create our soundtrack on Garage Band on the Apple Macs to avoid needing permission from any professional to copyright their music. For the slower part of our trailer, we found some copyright free music on Youtube which stated that we did not need any permission to use as long as it was not for any profit purposes.
This was our first attempt of creating music on Garage Band before realising that it wasn't modern enough this encouraged us to look on Youtube for more copyright free music, where we found a short bass track that we copy and pasted through out our trailer.
